After several terse months of hand ringing over the decision, the DNC announced today that Denver will host the Convention in 2008. Big concerns over planning and labor had soured the DNC on choosing Denver, but the other alternative (New York) refused to cover the costs of the convention. The city I was pulling for (Minneapolis) withdrew their bid once the Republicans picked the city for their convention.
I have never been to Denver but I am sure it will be a great city to host the convention. The West is playing an increasingly larger role in the Democrats electorate body and it will be nice to be out West for the convention. One of my goals through my political involvement is to actually make it to the convention as a delegate (or at least as an observer).

Denver's a good choice...especially if they'll pick up some of the bill! I'm sad that Minneapolis sold us out...but since they're about to lose Norm Coleman as the Minnesota Republican, I think they will stay firmly in the D column. :)
Denver is a GREAT choice! This state is swinging now, and has some great potential as one of the fastest growing states to become a good Democratic stronghold!
Oh yeah, I am totally stoked about the choice since I live here, about an hour from Denver.
So Greg, if you ever need a place to stay during the convention, I've got a great guest room and I've got a few bottles of wine for our enjoyment!
I think I have an easier time picturing Denver when I think about it in the late summer/early fall then I do right now. Democrats and wine go together like peas and carrots.
