I had previously noted the early debate in South Carolina in April. Last week it was announced that CNN will be hosting and airing debates in New Hampshire on April 4th and 5th. The entire nominating process seems to move earlier and earlier with debates starting sooner and a number of states jockeying to move their primaries closer to Iowa and New Hampshire so that their voters can have a say in choosing the candidates.
Does a national primary day begin to make sense? Maybe. A future post will address the topic.

I'm a big supporter of a National Primary day. First, Dean would've overwhelmingly swept the nomination last year, so I'm biased.
But, I don't see what good it does for the candidates to be swinging through Buena Vista, Iowa, to prepare them for a national campaign. Whoever wins the nomination of a primary campaign has to switch gears toward an entirely different campaign. While the primary set up now better prepares the contenders to be President (meeting with real people, talking about real issues) - it doesn't help as much for the real campaign as a National Primary Day.
